Mobile operating systems and browsers are headed in opposite directions
Fragmentation is going to be the rule going forwards for lots of different technology spaces. People keep going on about a Microsoft-like “winner” but it’s simply not going to happen ever again.

The Future of TV is……TV
Somebody seems to be in denial to the simple fact that there are many screens out there today. People are happily watching TV on the phones, mids, tablets, netbooks, laptops and desktops. People may be buying bigger televisions but this doesn’t mean, in any sense, that television is going to remain the dominant screen.

Microsoft’s Experiments with Software Transactional Memory Have Ended

The real problem is composability I suspect. The sort of structure and guarantees that transactions make are very hard to scale ito the wide world. You might say that the world isn’t transactional and, in fact, there’s nothing at all that we can really guarantee.
